Luigi Giussani (1922-2005) was an Italian Catholic priest, theologian, educator, and author. He was best known for his contributions to the formation of the Communion and Liberation movement, which emphasized the importance of the encounter between faith and culture. Giussani was born in Desio, Italy, and studied at the Catholic University of Milan. In 1954, he founded the movement known as Communion and Liberation, which spread throughout Italy and eventually became an international movement. Giussani was a prolific writer, producing several books on topics such as theology, culture, and education. His most famous work is "The Religious Sense", which explores the relationship between reason and faith. Giussani was also a respected educator, and taught theology at several universities in Italy and the United States. He died in Milan in 2005 at the age of 82. Today, his legacy continues through the work of Communion and Liberation and its various initiatives in the areas of education, culture, and social justice.
